PonyPilot is the service and app passengers use for Pony.ai robotaxi rides. Older company documents use the name PonyPilot+, which refers to the same service lineage rather than a special vehicle model. The technology performing the driving is a separate system that Pony.ai calls Virtual Driver.143Inferred

Where do you want to travel?

Pony.ai's service page names Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. On August 18, 2026, the company named Guangzhou's Haizhu, Tianhe, Huangpu and Panyu districts and reported extensions to Bao'an International Airport, Shenzhen Bay Port and Shekou Cruise Port. Those named areas and hubs are a starting point; check the exact pickup, destination and hours for your trip.12Reported

For a commute, choose the exact pickup and destination before deciding the service saves time. For an airport journey, check the terminal, pickup instructions, hours and space for luggage. A report that the network reaches Bao'an International Airport cannot answer all of those questions for a flight you need to catch.21Reported

How do you book and pay?

In its annual report filed April 22, 2026, Pony.ai describes app booking with nearby pickup and drop-off stations. Passengers can see the fare in the app and in-car interface and pay through supported services including Weixin and Alipay. Check the current app for the payment and account options available to you.3

That annual report also lists WeChat and Alipay mini programs, Amap and the WeChat mobility service. An August 18, 2026 company update describes access through ComfortDelGro's Zig app in Singapore. Check the channel, local operator and passenger rules for the market you will use; Singapore partner access does not establish PonyPilot app access there.32Reported

Which vehicle and driving system will you use?

Pony.ai's business page describes the sixth-generation system introduced on Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS vehicles in January 2022. Its August 18, 2026 update reports seventh-generation models associated with BAIC, GAC and Toyota in daily service. Before relying on a seat layout or feature, check the assigned vehicle; the earlier Sienna description does not establish those details for the newer fleet.12Reported

Pony.ai describes remote assistance and fleet management as part of its operation. That does not tell you the staffing arrangement for every trip. The app's service name also cannot determine the exact driving-system version or whether a particular local service uses a safety operator.13

Will the trip suit everyone travelling?

If children or someone using a mobility aid will accompany you, confirm the current local eligibility, child-seat and boarding rules before setting off. The company's older English-language terms do not establish those conditions for every current Chinese or partner-market service.5

Check how support works and which privacy notice applies to the channel you use. Once the route, passengers and local terms fit, compare the actual quoted fare and pickup arrangement with your alternatives. That is a more useful decision than choosing on the PonyPilot name alone.531

Sources and notes

  1. 1. Pony.ai business lines

The service page names four Chinese cities and describes remote assistance and fleet management. Its sixth-generation Toyota Sienna discussion dates to January 2022. Neither the city list nor that historical vehicle description establishes current exact zones, hours, eligibility or every vehicle's capabilities.

  2. 2. Pony.ai Q2 2026 results

The August 18, 2026 update reports Guangzhou districts, Shenzhen hub extensions, seventh-generation models and Singapore access through Zig. These remain dated company reports. They do not establish current terminal instructions, per-city equipped-model assignments or the use of Chinese passenger terms in Singapore.Reported

  3. 3. Pony.ai 2025 annual report, filed April 22, 2026

The annual report filed April 22, 2026 describes PonyPilot booking and payment, other Chinese channels and the Virtual Driver combination of software, hardware and services. The listed Cayman issuer and local service providers have distinct roles. Exact local ride counterparties, current tariffs and per-trip system or supervision contexts remain unconfirmed.

  4. 4. Pony.ai 2023 draft registration statement

The September 13, 2023 draft registration statement uses PonyPilot+ for the app. Treating that name as the lineage of today's PonyPilot is an editorial inference. No exact rename date or separate vehicle model is claimed.Inferred

  5. 5. Pony.ai English terms

The English terms are effective May 5, 2022. They do not establish current Chinese or partner-market child rules, wheelchair and child-seat suitability, or the applicable local rider privacy policy. Confirm those conditions for the actual trip.
