Clone Robotics is exploring a physical question behind the home-robot idea: could a machine work more like us if its body did too? Its work spans robotic hands, upper-body platforms and the full-body Protoclone. The newest announced torso is aimed at workplace tasks, while Clone Alpha remains the company's home-oriented proposal.4567

The collaboration brought together two different interests. The 2023 regulatory filing describes Łukasz Koźlik's seven years of experiments with artificial muscles and robotic hands. Dhanush Radhakrishnan had worked on reinforcement-learning software, giving the founders different starting points for a machine that would need both a body and a way to learn.2
The business took shape in 2021. Clone Incorporated’s filing gives October 12 as its Delaware organization date; the crowdfunding profile uses November as its founding month. The records do not explain the difference. Terms effective July 2, 2026 identify Clone Incorporated and its Polish subsidiary, Clone Sp. z o.o., with business addresses in Mountain View and Wrocław.123
The hand is a useful starting point for understanding Clone. A future helper has to do more than reach a cupboard: it has to grasp the handle and deal with what is inside. Clone's hand work and its later full-body prototype let readers follow how the company is approaching that physical side of robotics.45
A stationary robot for two-handed work
On October 1, 2026, Clone set a November target for Torso 4. That makes the next useful question quite specific: which two-handed job will the new platform perform, with what fixtures and how much help? An enterprise work station could be informative even before a robot is ready to move around a home.6
Robots and their intended work
The names describe different parts of that effort. Protoclone is the full-body demonstration introduced in February 2025. Torso is the upper-body line, with Torso 4 announced for stationary two-arm work. Alpha is the home-oriented proposal. A capability or purchase claim attached to one should not be carried across to the others.567
Clone Hand
Clone Hand is the hand-focused strand of the company’s hardware work. It connects Koźlik’s earlier artificial-muscle experiments with the manipulation problem that any wider robot body would need to solve.24
Protoclone
Clone introduced Protoclone in February 2025 as a full-body musculoskeletal android, with a body organized around artificial muscles. It is a development demonstration distinct from the home-oriented Alpha proposal.257
Clone Torso
The Torso line concentrates on upper-body work. The October 1, 2026 announcement targets Torso 4 for stationary two-arm enterprise tasks in November. This is a future target, with no completed launch or delivery implied.6
Clone Alpha
Alpha is promoted as a home-oriented android with an initial edition of 279 units. That is the scope of the promotion, not a verified count of delivered machines. The website’s reservation wording and dated terms need to be read together before treating it as an offer.17
From interest to an actual household offer
Clone's website still carries Alpha reservation language, but its terms effective July 2, 2026 explicitly say the site is not taking purchases or preorders. A prospective customer should treat the site as information about development and seek current terms for the exact machine.17
For a household reader, the next useful milestone is a clearly identified product doing a repeatable job, followed by delivery and service terms. Ask who repairs it, whether anyone can remotely see its surroundings, and what happens when it cannot complete a task. Those answers matter more to daily ownership than how closely the body resembles a person.178
