Waymo's Jaguar I-PACE is an all-electric car equipped with the fifth-generation Waymo Driver for passenger rides. For someone meeting one at a pickup point, the useful questions concern the people and luggage travelling, the service rules and the driving technology. This is the equipped fleet configuration, with different information needs from an ordinary retail I-PACE.1

How do Jaguar and Waymo fit together?

Waymo and Jaguar Land Rover announced their I-PACE collaboration on March 27, 2018. Jaguar is the vehicle brand; Waymo supplies the driving system. Battery capacity, range and luggage space for the equipped fleet car remain unconfirmed, so a retail I-PACE brochure cannot answer those questions for a Waymo ride.21

The I-PACE also has a history across Waymo technology generations. The 2018 announcement used a rendering labeled as the fourth-generation Driver, while Waymo's current media page identifies its I-PACE photographs as fifth generation. The generation label matters when comparing the cars shown in different announcements.231

Will it suit the people and luggage travelling?

Waymo's service allows up to four riders. That is a passenger limit for the service. Before booking with children, mobility equipment or airport luggage, check the service instructions and whether the assigned vehicle can accommodate the whole party.41

Waymo says it records cabin video during trips and audio during support calls or when microphones are actively enabled. Consider those terms before taking a private call in the car, alongside the practical questions about pickup and luggage.5

For a recurring journey, ask whether the assigned car can accommodate the same people and equipment each time. Riding through Waymo is the established access route. A retail offer for this equipped configuration, its exact model year and its battery and range figures remain unconfirmed.1
