Vorwerk is the business behind the Thermomix on the kitchen counter and the Kobold vacuum in the cupboard. Its products sit inside a wider group rooted in Wuppertal, Germany, with a sales approach built around explaining appliances directly to the people who will use them.12

From carpets to the kitchen counter

Carl and Adolf Vorwerk founded a carpet business in Barmen, now part of Wuppertal, in 1883. August Mittelsten Scheid took sole management in 1907. The company’s history connects its later gramophone-motor engineering with the development of the Kobold vacuum. Demonstrations in customers’ homes became central to explaining and selling its appliances.1

Cooking joined that history in 1971, when the VM2000 combined mixing and heating. Today, Thermomix and Bimby are the group’s cooking brands, accompanied by the Cookidoo guided-recipe platform. For someone comparing a used appliance with a new one, the exact generation and the recipe service are separate parts of the decision.127

Vorwerk announced TM7 on February 14, 2025. Its annual report records deliveries beginning in the second week of April 2025. TM6 is the preceding generation: the US support page refers to the end of its sales while describing continued service. That US statement does not establish the stock or support position in every country.35

The business extends beyond the kitchen. Kobold and Folletto cover cleaning, while the wider group includes akf Bank, Nexaro professional cleaning technology and Vorwerk Ventures. The holding company named in the annual report is Vorwerk SE & Co. KG. The TM6 manual separately names Vorwerk Elektrowerke GmbH & Co. KG as manufacturer. This profile covers the group behind those products.236

Products and services

Start with the job and the exact product name. Thermomix cooking appliances, the Cookidoo recipe service and the cleaning businesses each answer a different need; a specification or service promise for one should stay with that product and market.257

Thermomix TM6

TM6 is a countertop appliance for household food preparation and cooking, using a heated mixing bowl, scales and steaming accessories. Cookidoo supplies guided instructions and recipe sync. It is useful to assess the machine and those instructions together, including the steps the person cooking still handles.67

Thermomix TM7

TM7 is the successor announced in February 2025, with deliveries recorded from April that year. Its presence in the range does not transfer its specifications, price or local availability to a TM6 being offered secondhand.36

Cookidoo

Cookidoo is the digital guided-recipe platform. Check the local subscription offer and the appliance you intend to connect; a recipe service is a separate part of ownership from the hardware purchase.7

Kobold / Folletto and Nexaro

Kobold and Folletto are the cleaning brands, while Nexaro is the group’s professional cleaning technology business. Their inclusion explains the wider company; it does not make every cleaning appliance a household robot.2

What this means for a household

The US TM6 support page describes service, repairs and parts for up to ten years from purchase, with software updates for approximately five years after retirement. These are different periods, and the service statement is not a ten-year warranty. Check the purchase country and the original transaction before relying on it.5

What would change about your usual dinner?

Choose a meal your family already makes and ask an advisor to demonstrate the ingredient additions, accessory changes, serving and cleaning. Compare those steps with the work you want to reduce. Then check the exact local appliance, recipe subscription and repair terms before deciding whether the setup fits your kitchen.1567
