Does the third row change your shortlist?

If six or seven people regularly travel together, the standard R1S has enough seating positions on paper. Rivian also offers second-row captain chairs, so check the actual seating layout before ordering. Bring the people, child seats and luggage you normally carry to a viewing. Seat count alone does not tell you how the third row works for your family or how much luggage fits behind it.¹

What does the base Premium price include?

The US base Premium build shows an $83,990 subtotal. Its $1,895 destination fee takes the displayed total to $85,885 before estimated taxes and fees. The selected base battery has a quoted 329-mile EPA range. The 410-mile headline belongs to the optional Long Range configuration, which the builder lists at $7,000 extra. It should not be combined with the base purchase price.²³Inferred

What changes on a long family drive?

For a holiday drive, decide where the passengers and bags will go before comparing range figures. Then plan charging stops for that journey. Universal Hands-Free may reduce steering effort on eligible marked roads, but someone still needs to supervise and handle conditions the system does not. It will not stop or slow for traffic lights or stop signs.¹³⁸

Will an older R1S have the same assistance?

A used R1S needs a generation check. Rivian's current Autonomy+ roadmap names Gen 2 R1 vehicles. The September RivianOS 2 update also reaches Gen 1, but a refreshed display does not establish the newer driving hardware. Ask which generation and installed software the particular vehicle has, and verify its paid-feature entitlement before treating two R1S listings as equivalent.⁶⁷⁸⁹Reported

What does Autonomy+ add to ownership cost?

For eligible new R1 vehicles, Rivian lists a 60-day Autonomy+ trial. The US offer is $49.99 monthly or $2,500 as a one-time vehicle upgrade; the Canadian offer is C$69.99 monthly or C$3,500. A family choosing the monthly plan should count it as an ongoing cost after the trial. Current driving assistance still requires attention regardless of payment choice.⁸¹⁰

Can I use the US figures to shop in Canada?

The Canadian R1S Premium page displays a starting figure of C$155,107, with taxes and fees still subject to the local offer. Its current trim panels and older model-year footnote do not line up cleanly. We have therefore not assigned that figure or its conflicting range wording to the US 2027 build. A Canadian buyer needs a dated local configuration showing the model year and final price.⁵⁴Reported

Should I count on Point-to-Point now?

Point-to-Point remains a planned rollout, not a reason to assume today's car can finish an entire journey for you. The early-access program names eligible US Gen 2 R1 and R2 owners, excludes trials and Canada, and initially selects participants in California and Florida. Participation and receiving the software are separate steps.¹¹⁸
