UBTECH has two very different ways into everyday life. Its consumer range includes cleaning machines and small humanoids, while the full-size Walker S2 is built around work in factories. Following both sides of the business helps explain why a robot designed to keep a production line moving can share a company name with a machine intended for the home.1

From a robotics company to an industrial supplier

Founded in Shenzhen in 2012, UBTECH was built by Zhou Jian, also known as James Zhou. He remains chairman and chief executive officer; its current board also lists Xiong Youjun as chief technology officer. The company became publicly listed in Hong Kong in December 2023, creating a regular financial record alongside its product demonstrations.1245

The Walker name now covers several stages of that development. UBTECH’s history places the Walker S1 launch and automotive-factory training in 2024, followed by Walker S2 in 2025. Its November 2025 announcement described the start of production and delivery of several hundred S2 robots, a meaningful change from the earlier pilot stage.15

At Hitachi, Walker S2 is being evaluated for a particular workplace: an elevator workshop. UBTECH describes on-site operational testing and application validation there. For a manufacturer considering a humanoid, that makes the next conversation concrete: which handling task should it perform, and how will it fit the existing production process?6

UBTECH's H1 2024 results announcement described Walker S integrating Baidu's ERNIE technology and a joint demonstration at Create 2024. That historical software-integration account does not establish a current model-supply contract or Walker S2's software configuration.7

Which UBTECH product are you looking at?

The industrial Walker line, commercial humanoids and wheeled Cruzr robots serve different jobs. Their shared manufacturer makes the range easier to explore, while the model name tells you which capabilities to investigate.1

Walker S2

The 2025 industrial Walker follows S and S1. UBTECH announced initial production and deliveries in November 2025; its work with Hitachi shows the project-specific testing behind a factory application.156

Walker C1, C and X make up the commercial humanoid range. Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2 are wheeled products, with a different form and role from the bipedal Walker S2.1

Alpha, AIRROBO, UBPet and UBHOME

For families, the consumer catalogue offers a different starting point: Alpha Mini and Alpha 1E, AIRROBO cleaning products, UBPet and UBHOME lawn care. The company also works in education and healthcare. A shared manufacturer can connect these businesses, but each purchase still needs its own local availability, support and product information.1

A useful next step

Start with the job you want a robot to do. If it is cleaning a floor or maintaining a lawn, follow the appropriate consumer product and check the local service arrangements. If it is carrying parts between workstations, the Walker S2 profile raises a different set of questions about installation, operating supervision and support. The company name is a starting point; the exact product and task should decide the next conversation.16
