XPENG is easiest to understand by starting with its cars. It develops vehicles, driving-assistance software and in-car systems, then applies parts of that technical effort to new kinds of machines. IRON is its humanoid programme, with an initial commercial direction that includes helping people in shops.67

People and origins

XPENG dates its Guangzhou-based business to 2014. Its early operating company, Chengxing, began operations in 2015, with Xiaopeng He, Heng Xia and Tao He named as founders in the company’s filings. The listed Cayman holding company was incorporated on December 27, 2018. Those dates mark the brand’s beginning, the operating business and the later corporate structure.57

He remains chairman and chief executive officer. Before XPENG, he co-founded UCWeb and held leadership roles at Alibaba after its acquisition of that business. The current management team also includes president Fengying Wang and co-president Brian Hongdi Gu.34

Commercial deliveries of XPENG’s first G3 began in December 2018. Its vehicle range has since broadened: the company’s April 2026 Auto China display included GX, MONA M03, the next P7 and X9. Those models sit alongside its work on in-house driver assistance and cabin systems. The precise model, trim and country remain important when a customer moves from following the company to buying a car.579

Where IRON fits

XPENG introduced the first IRON generation in 2024 and revealed Next-Gen IRON on November 5, 2025. Its commercial priorities include tour and shopping guidance, with industrial inspection explored through a Baosteel partnership. Those roles give the programme a practical direction: helping visitors find their way or supporting a defined workplace task.6

The company’s rollout plan targets robot production by the end of 2026, work in Chinese XPENG stores in the first quarter of 2027 and overseas deployment later that year. These are company targets. A household purchase package, with price and delivery terms, has not been announced in the cited IRON material.810

XPENG groups vehicle AI, Robotaxi and humanoids under its Physical AI strategy. Keeping the practical job in view helps a reader follow that strategy: assistance while driving, a ride service, or a robot working on foot each calls for a different product and operating arrangement.7

Cars, ride technology and humanoids

XPENG’s cars are the starting point for its business. IRON and Robotaxi extend the company’s technical work into different kinds of service.7

IRON

The humanoid programme began in 2024. Its November 2025 next generation is aimed first at commercial interaction, including guidance in XPENG stores under the company’s 2027 rollout plan.6710

Robotaxi

XPENG’s ride-service programme is a separate application of its vehicle AI. It should be assessed through its own service area and operating conditions.7

A useful way to follow the company

If you are shopping for transport, begin with the vehicle and assistance features available in your own market. If you are following IRON, look for the transition from a dated production plan to a documented service doing a specific job. For a robot shopping guide, that could mean answering a customer’s question, finding the right destination and handing over to a person when needed. Those are more useful milestones than appearance alone.6710
