Dated 2026 milestone and specification accounts
Keep the specification accounts dated. XPENG’s November 5, 2025 Next-Gen announcement gives 82 body degrees of freedom, 22 per hand and 3,000 effective TOPS. Its September 9, 2026 Swiss newsroom gives 76, 21 per hand and up to 2,250 TOPS. The sources do not explain an exact hardware-edition or measurement-basis match, so these figures are not merged into one current specification.25Reported
The Swiss release reports newly commissioned production lines and an IRON walking off one. It still targets mass production by end 2026 and market launches in 2027. The July Australian account gives the more specific Chinese-store sequence from Q1 2027, with overseas rollout later that year. A reported line milestone and future rollout targets are different evidence from completed customer deliveries.54Reported
The stated first commercial roles concern XPENG sales centers and company premises. A buyer or operator still needs an exact edition, delivered task package, service policy and contract. Neither a programme milestone nor the existing November 2025 design film establishes a household shipping offer or the hardware of a future unit.5Reported
The 2024 programme and November 2025 Next-Gen IRON
XPENG introduced the first IRON in 2024. The Next-Gen robot unveiled on November 5, 2025 changes its structure, computing and energy system. Its new hardware should be compared as a complete generation, rather than combined with dimensions or factory demonstrations from the earlier robot.2
For Next-Gen IRON, XPENG describes 82 degrees of freedom across the body and 22 in each hand. Its design includes a human-like spine, bionic muscles and flexible skin. The point of this approach is visible in the intended interaction: a machine that can move and gesture in spaces used by people. The appearance is part of the design, while suitability for a particular setting still needs its own evaluation.21
The current product page identifies three in-house Turing chips, an all-solid-state battery and an AI system described through VLT, VLA and VLM. These are the manufacturer’s technology descriptions. They do not provide a published battery endurance, payload or a complete purchasing specification for a household robot.1
What it is being prepared to do
The official page presents walking, coffee preparation, dancing and Tai Chi demonstrations. Its commercial role descriptions focus on tour, shopping and patrol guidance. XPENG has also announced exploration of industrial inspection with Baosteel. A demonstration, an exploratory partnership and a service already in operation each tell you something different about progress.12
For a shopping guide, a useful trial would begin with an ordinary visitor’s request: find the right model, explain where to go, then connect the visitor with a person when needed. Ask what information the robot can use, how it handles a changed layout and whether staff must intervene. Those questions turn a striking humanoid demonstration into an assessment of a service.24
XPENG’s 2026 material retains the mass-production target for the end of the year, followed by Chinese-store use in early 2027 and overseas deployment later in 2027. These dates are company plans. The reviewed sources do not establish a home order package, deposit, subscription or delivery contract.41
Interaction, privacy and ownership
At the Next-Gen announcement, XPENG said privacy data would remain on the robot. That is an important design commitment, but an organisation considering a deployment should also obtain the operating policy: what is recorded, who can retrieve it and whether support staff or connected services can access it. A short announcement is not enough to answer those everyday data questions.21
XPENG also announced plans to open an SDK. A developer should check the actual release, supported hardware and licence before planning an integration. For an operator, the equivalent questions concern maintenance, recovery after a stop and who provides service. The car warranties shown elsewhere on XPENG’s regional site do not establish a warranty for IRON.24
For families, IRON is worth following as a programme learning to work around people. The next practical milestone is a clearly described job running in a real setting, with support and understandable limits. If the goal is help at home, wait for a specific household offer that answers those questions rather than treating the store rollout as a home launch.241
Which version of IRON do these specifications describe?
IRON began as a programme introduced in 2024. The specifications shown here are explicitly scoped to the Next-Gen robot unveiled on November 5, 2025. Its joint counts and hardware should not be combined with measurements from the earlier robot.2
Can I order IRON for my home?
No household order package has been verified in the cited material. XPENG’s stated commercial plan targets mass production by the end of 2026 and work in its Chinese stores from early 2027. Those are company targets, not a home-delivery offer.1423
What has XPENG said about IRON and privacy?
XPENG announced a principle that privacy data would stay on the robot. That is a design commitment, not a verified operating policy. A deployment agreement should explain what is recorded, who can access it and what connected services or support staff are permitted to do.214
