Clone Protoclone

Clone RoboticsEditorial review pending

A research prototype that explores a human-like body built around artificial muscles.12

Before you choose

Is Protoclone the same product as Clone Alpha or Torso?

No. This page covers the full-body research prototype Clone introduced on February 19, 2025. Alpha is a separate home-oriented proposal, and Torso concerns an upper-body platform family with a later stationary enterprise target. Alpha’s planned edition size or advertised skills do not establish Protoclone specifications, availability or household capability.

What do its muscle, movement and sensor counts mean?

Clone reported more than 200 degrees of freedom, more than 1,000 Myofibers and 500 sensors for the introduced prototype. These are maker design counts, not independent measurements. They describe the body’s proposed complexity. They do not measure the number of tasks it can complete, the strength of a grasp or the reliability of autonomous chores.

Does the introduction demonstrate unassisted walking?

The accepted inspection of the original player records a prototype hanging from overhead support in a workshop. It does not establish unassisted gait or a complete autonomous task. A useful later demonstration would identify all support and human control, show the whole task and explain recovery when balance or a grasp fails.

Can I order one, and is there a verified price?

No Protoclone-specific retail offer or price was established in the accepted sources. Clone’s July 2, 2026 terms say the site does not collect purchases or preorders, while older reservation language remains visible. That inconsistency is retained. A price or reservation claim for another Clone concept cannot be used as a Protoclone offer.

Could it carry things or help with chores at home?

Repeatable autonomous household work has not been established for this prototype. Ask for a complete demonstration of a defined task, with the control mode and any human assistance disclosed. Carrying an object would require evidence of finding it, grasping it, moving safely and recovering a slip. Anatomical movement alone does not establish that assistance.

What remains unknown before ownership could be assessed?

Model-specific endurance, warranty, repair geography and delivery are not established. The website privacy notice also does not answer how an operational robot would handle camera, audio or training data. Those need product-specific documentation before a household arrangement can be evaluated. This profile describes research hardware, with no hands-on experience or consumer-support claim.

Understand the prototype before the promises

Protoclone is the full-body android Clone introduced in February 2025. Its visible muscles and human-like outline explain why it attracts attention, but the useful question is what that body can eventually do. The introduction belongs to a research program, with household capability and purchase terms still to establish.12

Clone describes the prototype as having more than 200 degrees of freedom, more than 1,000 Myofibers and 500 sensors. These are the maker's design counts. They describe movement and sensing complexity; they are not a measure of how many chores the robot can perform.2

Overhead support changes what a video shows

The original video places the robot on overhead support in a workshop. That setting matters when interpreting its movements: a supported body is a different demonstration from a robot crossing a room and recovering its balance on its own. The clip is useful for seeing the prototype, without treating it as a household walking test.1

A useful future demonstration would start with an ordinary job, such as carrying an item from one surface to another. Ask whether the robot identifies the item itself, whether a person guides any part of the task, and how it responds if the object slips. Those questions separate the promise of the body from the assistance it can actually provide.1

Keep Alpha and Torso separate

Keep Protoclone separate from Clone Alpha. Alpha is the home-oriented proposal on Clone's website, including a planned 279-unit edition. A list of Alpha skills is not a specification for this earlier prototype. Clone's newer Torso 4 announcement concerns stationary workplace tasks, another distinct scope.35

A research body has no verified retail offer

There is no verified Protoclone retail offer here. Clone's July 2026 website terms say that purchases and preorders are not being collected through the site, even though older reservation language remains visible. A price attached to a different Clone concept would not establish what this prototype costs to buy.43

Battery endurance, repairs and data handling also need product-specific answers before household ownership can be assessed. Clone's website privacy notice does not settle how a future robot would use images from your rooms. For now, Protoclone is a way to understand Clone's hardware approach and follow its development.61
