A robot designed to meet people
Fourier gives GR-3 a different emphasis from a robot built mainly to handle parts: interactive service and wellness companionship. The maker’s Meow-bot description combines vision, sound and touch so the robot can respond to a person through several kinds of interaction. A useful demonstration would begin with a real encounter, such as greeting a visitor and responding when they speak or touch the robot.1
The current page lists 31 pressure sensors across the head and torso, a rounded height of 165 cm and a mass of 71 kg. These details help explain the design, but they do not establish suitability for unsupervised care. Someone considering companionship should define who will supervise the encounter and what happens if the robot misunderstands.1
Choose the actual build
GR-3 and GR-3C are separately named configurations. Fourier describes GR-3C, called Cosmo, as adding LiDAR and a different outer shell for functional applications. Do not assume those features are fitted to the GR-3 being demonstrated.1
The developer manual also distinguishes standard six-degree-of-freedom hands from optional twelve-degree-of-freedom hands and gives an upper limit of 55 actuators. It documents hot-swappable batteries and about three hours of endurance, without a defined task cycle. Have the supplier identify the hands, battery arrangement and software in the quotation.2
What to establish before deployment
Current marketing and legacy documentation differ on camera type and walking speed. Resolve those against the offered revision before planning navigation or perception work. For a social setting, the more useful test is whether the robot can complete the intended interaction consistently in the actual room.12
A care-themed name does not supply a clinical result or a service agreement. Ask for the supported activities, staff training, maintenance and emergency response arrangements. Because the design uses visual and audio interaction, also establish recording, cloud processing, retention and deletion terms. A current price and delivered support package remain to be confirmed.1
