Which D9 are you looking at?
The original D9 followed two other Pudu X-Lab projects: the D7 semi-humanoid and the DH11 hand. Its catalog lists 170 cm height, 65 kg weight and 42 degrees of freedom, with DH11 hands described separately. These are useful historical reference points, but they do not identify every robot now shown under the D9 name.31
Pudu's April 30, 2026 update describes the latest iteration as 170 cm tall and 58 kg. The global catalog still gives 65 kg. The dated update identifies newer hardware, while the exact relationship to a current sales configuration remains unresolved. For that reason, the two accounts are kept separate, and the older joint, battery and payload figures are not assigned to the 58 kg version.41
Capabilities depend on the actual package
The older catalog describes dexterous hands and a 20 kg maximum payload in a testing environment. The original launch used wording above 20 kg, without a matching test description. Neither figure should be treated as a comfortable everyday load for an unknown configuration. Ask for a rated task and load case for the unit actually being offered.124
Pudu's own catalog warns that some promotional examples are not yet available to customers and that actual features follow the sales contract. It also says the shipped version may differ from promotional material. Those are important qualifications when watching a demonstration: the video may show a direction of development rather than everything included in a purchase.1
The practical question
Suppose the job is to carry a container from a workbench to another station. Before being impressed by the walking, ask whether the robot can grasp that container, turn through the available space, stop around people and recover when the destination is occupied. Then ask who supervises the task and who maintains the machine. These questions connect a humanoid demonstration to the work someone actually needs done.14
D9's current material supports a development and inquiry context, not universal retail availability. A family should not read the company's delivery-robot business as a promise of a supported home humanoid. A prospective organizational customer needs a dated specification, contractual feature list, delivery location and support plan for the exact revision.12Inferred
