Tesla first unveiled its next-generation Roadster in 2017. It reported another unveiling on October 15, 2026, and its October 21 update still lists the car in design development. Performance, Thrust and Rocket offer different seating and equipment choices. The current reservation provides approximate priority for later configuration and ordering; the final specification and price remain open.1543Reported
Which Roadster fits the way you want to drive?
Performance and Thrust each have two seats; Rocket has one and is invitation-only. Start with who will travel with you and where you want to use the car. Those answers help distinguish a road-oriented sports car from the more specialized augment options.12Reported
Tesla's product page gives two different descriptions of feature scope: numbered features are qualified as Rocket-only and region-limited, while a separate footer says the page's specifications reflect the optional Thrust augment. That difference remains unresolved. The named configuration descriptions below keep their own seating, equipment and access conditions.1
Performance
Performance is the two-seat Roadster offered by reservation. Tesla describes active aerodynamics and a suction system intended to create downforce, and presents it for road use. That is the maker's positioning; approval for a buyer's jurisdiction still needs to be established.1Reported
On October 26, 2026, the US Performance reservation schedule showed $5,000 due immediately and $45,000 within ten days. Adding those payments gives a US$50,000 reservation total. The purchase price is still unconfirmed, and the agreement does not guarantee delivery or its timing.23Inferred
If you want a two-seat sports car for the road, ask what final specification, delivery timetable and local approval you would need before reserving. Consider whether you can leave that reservation payment committed while the car remains in development.123Inferred
Thrust
Thrust adds rear cold-gas acceleration thrusters to the Performance equipment, according to Tesla's reservation selector. It retains two seats. Its active aerodynamics and suction system are described as part of that configuration, alongside the added thrusters.12Reported
The US Thrust selection on October 26, 2026 showed $5,000 due immediately and $245,000 within ten days, a calculated US$250,000 reservation total. Tesla limits it to one per customer and makes availability subject to regional legal requirements. This amount reserves a place; it is not a settled vehicle price or delivery commitment.23Inferred
Before comparing acceleration, ask which configuration and measurement conditions a figure describes. Tesla displays a 0-60 claim of under one second without a speed unit in the label. Its Rocket-only qualification and broader Thrust footer also disagree about feature scope. Those details need clarification before using the headline figure to choose a Thrust vehicle.1Reported
Rocket
Rocket is the one-seat, invitation-only Roadster option. Tesla describes cold-gas thrusters around the vehicle, and the reservation selector describes an added flight system. These are design descriptions; flight duration, operating conditions and certification remain unconfirmed.12Reported
The public US reservation selector showed Rocket as disabled on October 26, 2026, with no confirmed price or reservation amount. Tesla's note beside Rocket says it is not approved for public-road use. The US$250,000 reservation total belongs to Thrust and does not supply a Rocket price.21Inferred
If the airborne demonstration interests you, start with the setting in which you could use the vehicle. Ask what authorization that setting requires and what configuration, feature scope and delivery terms an invitation would include.213Reported
What does a reservation commit you to?
Roadster reservations were already underway by Tesla's February 2018 annual filing. The US checkout now links to agreement US v.20261015. It describes approximate priority for later configuration and ordering, with the final specification and purchase price still to be confirmed.63
The agreement says Roadster remains in development and does not guarantee when, or whether, delivery will occur. Before the invited configuration process is completed, either party may cancel with repayment of the reservation payment. That cancellation clause has a defined scope, so read it alongside the chosen configuration and payment schedule before reserving.3
What do you want from your next vehicle?
Driving enjoyment, comfort, new technology and less time spent driving can lead to different choices. Picture the journeys you want to make, the people coming with you and when you need the car. Then compare the Roadster configuration, reservation amount and uncertain delivery timing with those needs.123Inferred
If your goal is to spend a journey as a passenger, ask separately about driving responsibility. Thrusters, active aerodynamics and stabilizing controls do not explain who supervises road driving. A confirmed driving-assistance or autonomous-driving package for this Roadster remains unknown.12Reported

Sources and notes
- 1. Roadster current product page
Tesla describes the configurations separately: two seats for Performance and Thrust, one for Rocket. The Rocket-adjacent public-road restriction belongs to Rocket. Numbered Rocket-only feature wording and the broader Thrust footer disagree about scope, so neither account settles a shared family specification. The 0-60 label omits a speed unit.Reported

- 2. Roadster US reservation selector
The October 26 US selector supplies the configuration-specific schedules: $5,000 plus $45,000 for Performance and $5,000 plus $245,000 for Thrust, with the second payment due within ten days. US$50,000 and US$250,000 are calculated reservation totals, not purchase prices. Rocket was disabled and had no confirmed payment amount. Thrust has its own customer and regional limits.Inferred

- 3. Roadster reservation agreement US v.20261015
Agreement US v.20261015 describes approximate priority, continuing development and no guaranteed delivery or date. Its cancellation and repayment provision applies before the invited configuration process is completed. The accompanying checkout wording separately excludes refunds for modifications; this is not an unconditional refund promise. Final purchase price and configuration remain open.
