Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is Tesla's consumer driving-assistance package. Tesla says the driver must remain attentive and responsible while using it. If your goal is to stop supervising the road, that requirement is the first thing to consider, before comparing features or subscription prices.1
What can it help with in your car?
Tesla describes navigation assistance that can handle turns, lane changes and other driving tasks under supervision. It also lists parking functions, with availability depending on the car and its software. Treat these as the manufacturer's description, then check the manual and controls for the exact vehicle you are considering.1Reported
Software version and hardware matter. The subscription page mentions FSD computer 3.0 or above, but also directs owners to check vehicle eligibility in the app. A prerequisite hardware upgrade may cost extra, and an update is needed before features become available. A minimum computer label is not a guarantee that two cars have the same features.2
What does the US subscription include?
As of October 26, 2026, Tesla's US support page advertises US$99 per month and says new outright purchase is unavailable. Existing purchased entitlements are a separate case. Canceling a subscription leaves access in place through the current billing period, with no refund or monthly proration. Check the offer and eligibility shown for the actual vehicle before subscribing.12
Is the help worthwhile while you supervise?
Describe the part of driving you want help with: following a commute, navigating unfamiliar streets or parking. Then decide whether the benefit is still worthwhile while you remain responsible and ready to intervene. The product's supervision requirement is not removed by a familiar route or an impressive demonstration.1Reported
For your own car, compare the installed software, hardware and available features, then read the driving-responsibility instructions for that configuration. Supervised consumer assistance still needs an attentive driver; a passenger ride offered under separate service terms does not change that responsibility.12
Before enabling the package, read the current vehicle manual and the privacy terms attached to the account and software. Ask which camera or driving data is collected, how it is used and what choices the owner has. The FSD-specific answers need to come from those terms.12
