The body and the task
The current scientific-research specification lists a 170 cm height, 80 kg weight and seven degrees of freedom in each arm. Astribot rates each arm for 5 kg at horizontal reach and gives an arm span of 194 cm. These are configuration-specific manufacturer figures, not measurements from our testing.1
Astribot also lists a maximum end-effector speed of at least 10 metres per second. That describes motion at the working end of the arm, not how fast the whole robot travels. It should not be read as a recommendation for moving at that speed around people or fragile possessions.1
The advertised endurance is four to six hours, with plugged-in operation supported. A buyer planning repeated manipulation needs a runtime estimate for that actual duty cycle, together with the space and power arrangements the installation requires.1
Learning and control
The product page offers an API, development guidance, simulation support and VR teleoperation for training data. Astribot's Lumo-1 research also identifies S1 as a source of action trajectories. This makes S1 relevant to teams developing robot intelligence, where the software and training process are part of the project.12
For someone interested in a future kitchen helper, choose one whole task to discuss, such as putting a specified set of objects into the right places. Ask what preparation is needed, whether an operator intervenes and how the robot deals with an unfamiliar object. Those questions can reveal more about practical usefulness than a maximum-speed figure.1
Buying and supporting S1
The S1 page leads to a company enquiry rather than a fully specified public household offer. Obtain an exact model, software bundle, delivery destination and support agreement. Astribot's separate CNY 89,900 headline is for T1, so it cannot be used to price S1.13
A project that records demonstrations should also establish who controls the data, where it is stored and whether a remote operator can see the workspace. Those deployment terms are not established by the S1 specification page.1
