The work it is designed to automate
The robot vacuums and mops, lifting its pad onto the top of its body when carpet is detected. iRobot also describes camera-assisted dirt detection that can trigger repeated cleaning passes. These are manufacturer-described functions. They do not establish a stain-removal score or prove that the machine will navigate every rug and obstacle in your home.1
Think about your own mopping pattern before choosing the dock. If the kitchen needs attention most days, automated pad care may matter more to you than another cleaning-mode name. If mopping is occasional, compare the whole purchase and upkeep cost with the simpler routine you would otherwise accept.1
A dock still needs a place and a cleaning routine
iRobot's preparation guide calls for hard flooring, power and good Wi-Fi near the dock, no direct sunlight, clear space for the robot and at least four feet from stairs. Open up the intended cleaning area before mapping. Its support guidance also warns that PrecisionVision does not actively avoid obstacles during the training or mapping run.34
AutoWash does not eliminate maintenance. The support article says larger debris and hair can collect in the pad-washing filter despite automatic rinsing. It recommends cleaning the pad-washing and overflow basins monthly, when visibly dirty or when the app asks. The removable roller and filter also need the care described in that guide.5
A useful dock location therefore allows you to reach the parts you must clean, not just enough room for the robot to reverse in. Picture taking the basin and filter out with wet hands. If that means moving furniture each time, reconsider the location before buying.35
Control, privacy and support
The documented app is iRobot Home. The front camera supports obstacle recognition, while optional Obstacle Image Review lets an owner examine images in the app. Turning off that review feature does not turn off obstacle avoidance. Maps and other connected-device information have separate settings and disclosures in iRobot's privacy notice.146
The setup page lists a dedicated support route for Combo 10 Max owners. Ask a seller to confirm X085020, the included AutoWash dock, local warranty and replacement parts. A current US price or stock offer has not been verified here. If Matter or Apple Home is essential, check the current official requirements and ask to see it working with the firmware, account and region you will use.321

AutoWash takes on pad washing and drying as well as dust emptying and liquid refilling. Its basin, roller and filter still need the documented owner care.21
