US buying terms and Japan’s sales closure
On October 26, 2026, Sony’s US store listed white ERS-1000 at US$3,199.99 with a three-year AI Cloud Plan. Sony marked it final sale with no returns and excluded sale or use in Illinois and Baltimore, Maryland. Those restrictions belong in the purchase decision before comparing the price with a used or imported robot.3
Japan has a different sales position. Sony’s Japanese homepage says ERS-1000 series sales have ended, while its June 25, 2026 notice separately continues named plans, My aibo, repairs and parts support. The end of Japanese sales is not a worldwide end-of-service announcement.45
Cloud plan, charging station and support
The included cloud plan is a term-limited part of the US package. Before renewing or buying secondhand, ask Sony which plan applies to that unit, what an account transfer requires and which behaviors remain after expiry. The dated renewal reference in the source notes does not settle those questions.36
Sony’s package information includes a charging station, adapter, power cord and pink ball, with settings and services through My aibo. Its FAQ points to troubleshooting, parts and support and describes a one-year limited warranty. For a secondhand purchase, match the unit’s region and service eligibility before counting on those arrangements.7
Allow time and space for charging
Sony’s launch figures describe a roughly 2.2 kg robot with 22 movement axes, two cameras and four microphones. The approximate two-hour battery runtime and three-hour charge time are useful for planning a play-and-charge routine. They are not a measure of an older unit’s battery health.1
A camera-equipped companion in a shared home
The US aibo policy describes facial analysis and cloud backups of recognition data. Automatic photography is off by default; enabling it uploads selected images to the owner’s online account. Owners must inform people near the robot about its collection features and obtain consent. The policy also says US services are not targeted at children under 16. Think about guests and shared rooms as well as the person who manages the account.2

Sony’s November 1, 2017 announcement identifies ERS-1000 and its January 11, 2018 Japanese release. The dimensions are for a standing robot, excluding protrusions; weight, runtime and charging are approximate launch specifications. Listed Wi-Fi and LTE hardware do not establish present carrier support for an imported unit. Earlier AIBO generations are separate products.
