Reachy Mini is a desktop companion for people who like the idea of an expressive robot and are willing to assemble and configure it. The first buying choice is practical: Wireless has its own computer, while Lite uses yours. Both come as kits, so set aside time to build it before expecting a conversation.12

Wireless or Lite: which setup fits?

Choose Wireless if you want the robot's processing built in. Choose Lite if keeping a host computer connected suits the project. Pollen says the two share the same mechanical design, camera and audio capabilities, but Lite is not a simple upgrade route to Wireless. Decide where it will live and which computer, if any, can stay with it.21

The maker estimates around two hours for assembly. The Wireless store listing includes the structure, motors, electronics, tools and guide, with no soldering or 3D printer required. Treat the build as part of the experience. Pollen recommends these development platforms for users aged 16 and over.134

Can you talk to it straight away?

Pollen now advertises built-in conversation powered by a realtime voice model. That is separate from the choice of apps and custom projects. Before buying for everyday chats, establish which service runs the conversation, what usage is included, which languages you need and whether the feature works without an internet connection. Those answers are not settled by the robot having its own computer.12

Is the Jensen Huang demo what comes in the box?

The Reachy Mini shown with Jensen Huang at CES 2026 was part of a demonstration using NVIDIA DGX Spark. Hugging Face's tutorial combines separate reasoning, vision and speech services, with several ways to host them. That is a project to reproduce, not a description of everything supplied in a Reachy Mini box. A DGX Spark is not established as necessary for every Reachy Mini activity.52

What will it cost to get started?

The product page advertises US$499 for Wireless and US$399 for Lite, before shipping and destination charges. The store terms estimate roughly 30 to 90 days for either variant. The SDKs and community app access are described as free, but that does not settle model-service costs. Confirm the final destination price and the running costs of the app you actually want.142

Choose the experience, then check the app

Make a short list of one conversation feature and one creative activity you would use. For each, check setup, the camera and microphone data it sends, any account requirement and ongoing cost. This is a better starting point than treating every demonstration or community app as a supplied, supported household feature.125

Current product page and variant comparison. Its DAP import wording differs from the store's checkout wording; the total and collection method need destination-specific confirmation.

  2. 2. Pollen's Reachy Mini FAQ

USB descriptions differ: the Wireless store lists Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, while the FAQ says Wireless cannot be controlled over USB like Lite and directs users to Wi-Fi or a USB-C Ethernet adapter. The store wording does not establish USB robot control.
